Old Forge Library's Music in the Gazebo Series will feature Midnite Mike and the Bent Blinds, on Tuesday, July 23 at 4 pm.

Local favorite "Midnite Mike" Grimaldi has brought together a talented group pf musicians who share a love for classic blues and jazz sounds and catchy hooks.

Rod Keiser plays piano for the group.  Rod has been involved in music throughout his life, from playing with Dickie Betts of the Allman Brothers fame,  playing  piano in the Air Force Band, to teaching music in the Rome NY City School District for many years.

John Handzel plays Stand Up Bass for the Bent Blinds. After retiring from the Rome, NY Post Office,  he's reverted  back to his younger days and is enjoying playing with many CNY bands.

Drummer Tim Quinn has played in CNY all his life and is one of the best back beat drummers on the music scene. Tim can play many different styles, patterns and beats ranging from popular to jazz and all points in between.

Last but not least is Mike Grimaldi, best known as "Midnite Mike", a great vocalist self-accompanied by guitar and harmonica.  He has  opened shows for BB King, Albert King, Hubert Sumlin, Jerry Portnoy, and many of the Blues Greats. He also mentored a  young Joe Bonamassa from the CNY area, who has gone on to become one of the greatest Blues Artist in the world. You can find Grimaldi playing  solo as well as with the Bent Notes who can break down or regroup into a Duo, Trio, Quartet or Big Band with Horns to accommodate  all types of events and venues.  The large lawn area surrounding the library gazebo offers the opportunity to spread out and enjoy this free, family-friendly entertainment. Listeners are asked to bring their own blanket or folding chair. In case of inclement weather, the audience is invited to sit under the big tent on the lawn.

The Friends of the Old Forge Library will offer a used book sale during each Tuesday concert if weather permits. Listeners are invited to stop by their booth and load up on used books, DVDs, puzzles and more. Donations are appreciated.

Upcoming Tuesday Gazebo concerts include 7/30: Deveny, Mulkerne & Handzel,  8/6: Jared Campbell, 8/13: Cincinnati Creek, 8/20: Joe Bolton & Mary Brophy-Moore, and 8/27: Tom O’Carroll.

Library concerts are always free and fun to attend. Performances are family-friendly and open to all.
